The bookmakers are not betting on Sudden Lights making it to the Eurovision final tonight

Already tonight, May 9, and tomorrow, May 11, the finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest will be determined in two semi-finals, in which the Latvian band “Sudden Lights” will also compete for the chance to perform in the grand final. Betsafe bookmakers are sure that Latvia will have a similar outcome as in previous years, and unfortunately it will not enter the final.

On the evening of May 9, 15 participants will compete for a place in the final, while two days later a total of 16 participants will try to enter the top ten, however, bookmakers are sure that even a smaller group of opponents will not help “Sudden Lights” win a place in the final. Latvia’s entry into the finals after a break of several years is assessed with only a 33% probability, while not entering – with a 77% probability. The first semi-final, which will take place tonight, is predicted to be much stronger than the second, as it will feature five of the ten main contenders for the triumph.

On the other hand, the forecasts of neighboring countries are much more optimistic from the point of view of bookmakers. Lithuania’s chances of reaching the final are assessed with 86% probability, while Estonia – with 64% probability. Both countries will take the stage in the second semi-final on May 11. As for the internal competition of the Baltic States, the highest place is predicted for Lithuania with a 48% probability, followed by Estonia with a 44% probability, and the lowest place with an 8% probability – for Latvia.

The main favorite of the entire song contest is considered to be Sweden, which will be represented once again by “Loreen”, who won in 2012. This year, the musician will perform the song “Tattoo” and her victory in Eurovision is assessed with a 60% probability, while the main competitor is considered to be neighboring Finland, which is represented by the musician “Kaarija” with the song “Cha, Cha, Cha”, and whose victory is estimated by bookmakers with 28% chance. They are followed by four countries with a low probability of winning – Ukraine and France with a 6% probability, as well as Norway and Spain with a 5% probability.
