“Latvija” concert hall invites you to an organ music concert

LATVIA – on June 11 at 13 concert hall “Latvija” will perform the second concert of the cycle “Organ music on Sundays” “I thank God for every hour!”, in which Larisa Bulava, professor of the organ class of the Latvian Academy of Music, and Juris Vizbulis, tenor of the Latvian National Opera, will perform.

The concert offers a full palette of sacred music for different tastes of listeners. The program includes well-known works by world and Latvian composers.

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Ludwig van Beethoven, Cesar Frank, Jānis Kalniņš and Jānis Ivanovs will be played in the “Latvija” concert hall, which allows you to enjoy both solo organ and compositions for organ and tenor voice. The song of Jānis Kalniņas was chosen as the title of the concert, which is also included in the program.
Juris Vizbulis performs concerts in Latvia and abroad, offering listeners sacred music programs for voice and organ, as well as chamber music concerts. In collaboration with French organists, his concerts are regularly held in French churches. His most important operatic roles in the repertoire include Bastien (V. A. Mozart’s opera “Bastien and Bastienne”) and Herold (chamber opera “Līsistrate” based on the play by Aristophanes), as well as Tamino (V. A. Mozart’s “The Little Magic Flute” performed at the Latvian National Opera), Trike (P. Tchaikovsky “Eugene Onegin”) and Alfred (“The Bat” by J. Strauss).

Larisa Bulava graduated from the organ class of J. Vītolas Latvian State Conservatory. The basic course of organ playing was learned by prof. Under the leadership of Nikolajs Vanadzins and at the Leipzig School of Music under professor Wolfgang Schettelich. Further mastery was mainly formed by her own work, the rich experience of concerts both in Latvia and in other countries, participation in festivals, TV, radio and creating extensive soundtracks. Since 1992, Larisa Bulava has been the organist of Riga Cathedral.

The concert is organized by SIA “Kurzeme Philharmonia”. The event is financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the municipality of Ventspils. Tickets can be purchased in the ticket sales network “Biļešu paradīze”, as well as at the ticket offices of the “Jūras vārti” theater and the “Latvija” concert hall.
