Stella Lapiņa, chairwoman of the board of the “Health Centers Association” and “Central Laboratory”, describes the opening of the “Health Centers Association” (VCA) doctorate and the “Central Laboratory” branch in the very center of Bauska as a summery, energetic step to be closer to its customers.
Now the opportunities for the residents of Bauska city and county to receive outpatient health care services in one place have expanded. A doctorate with a wide range of services has opened in the center of Bauska itself, and analyzes can be handed over to the “Central Laboratory” branch; in the near future, dental services will be available, as well as specialist consultations and medical manipulations.
The right place for a PhD
“I personally looked at various possible room options in Bauska for the needs of the laboratory. I am a busy person and I always especially appreciate whether people will be able to conveniently drive up, park their car in a free parking lot and then go to give tests, perform some manipulations. When I found what I was looking for in the heart of Bauska, together with my colleagues, we realized that the area was too large for laboratory purposes alone, so we decided to create a doctorate. where you will be able to pass tests, visit a dentist or a doctor of another specialty,” says Stella Lapiņa, chairperson of the VCA board, adding that this will be the fifth doctorate that the company has opened in Latvia. “We are currently trying to understand the needs of the population and are looking for ways to be closer to, support and help Latvian residents outside of Riga in various ways,” says Stella Lapiņa.
Availability of various specialists
It is planned that gynecologists, surgeons and other specialists will be regularly admitted to the doctorate. Specialists will change when evaluating demand. There will be those specialists for whom there will be the greatest demand and both state-paid and paid health care services will be available. In the new medical facility, it will be possible to perform an electrocardiogram, measure blood pressure, place an intravenous system with a doctor’s order, administer injections, receive consultation from physician assistants, as well as sign up for other services available at VCA polyclinics, including state-paid surgical operations.
Will also consult remotely
During the doctorate, it will be possible to receive video consultations – during which the physician’s assistant will provide assistance to the doctor. “For example, so that the specialist does not have to travel to Bauska or the patient to Riga for the first or second appointment, the doctor can consult remotely. We have lived “online” for so long that for many it has already become everyday. We have successfully created such a model in Daugavpils, also offering professor consultations. We provide good video communications, creating a true sense of reality, as if you were in the doctor’s office. There is a doctor’s assistant next to him who can perform the manipulations indicated by the doctor, entries in the card, as well as in the program, which is very important. We plan that in the future, pregnant women from Bauska, who will register with a gynecologist in Riga or Bauska, will be able to receive repeated consultations in absentia,” says Stella Lapiņa.
The much-needed dentist will accept
The newly opened medical institution will offer general dentistry services, and the introduction of protective services will also be considered. It is planned to attract a children’s dentist, so that even the smallest patients have access to dental treatment and hygiene. “It is such a dilemma. Of course, a specialist can earn more when working with adults, but children’s dentistry is in great demand, so we will try with all our might to ensure that this service is provided in Bauska,” assures Stella Lapiņa.
Will take care of the smallest customers
Especially designed for the smallest ones. There is also a TV set in the specially designed corner and the little visitors can watch an interesting cartoon. “Everyone already has fear, but distraction is very important for children, that’s why a special diploma for courage is presented for cooperation with the nurse.
For the health of expectant mothers
“We haven’t forgotten pregnant women either – a special place has been created for them to relax, because expectant mothers have to spend several hours in a medical facility, for example, when passing a glucose test. So that you don’t have to think about where to stay during this time, for the convenience of pregnant women we offer a comfortable chair in which to relax, read a book, magazine or review the contents of your smartphone. The well-being of the expectant mother is very important to us,” admits Stella Lapiņa, saying “Everything here is designed in such a way that I myself would like to receive the service. Not only thinking about health care, but also – to be comfortable, fast, pleasant.”
