Lil Wayne was a no-show at his concert at the Bangor Waterfront, a show meant to kick off his new tour. Fortunately, the rapper has already rescheduled.
On Tuesday night, Lil Wayne was meant to play the Bangor Waterfront after opening act 2 Chainz—a show that would have kicked off his new tour, 20 Years of Carter Classics. The rapper was scheduled to begin at 10:45 PM, but the crowd was told at 11 PM that he would not be appearing. Lil Wayne is now scheduled to play in Bangor at the Maine Savings Amphitheater on July 28.
While plenty of concertgoers were upset by the news, many fans weren’t surprised, with one Reddit user writing, “Water is wet.” But others called him out for his unprofessionalism. One fan said she drove over six hours from Nova Scotia to see the rapper perform, and “the least [he] could do is come out for a minute [and] apologize.”
Still, fans enjoyed a 2 Chainz performance, and concertgoers online also had praise for DJ TLew, who spun sets for the crowd after 2 Chainz finished his act. The DJ also continued to maintain the vibe and hype up the crowd while awaiting Lil Wayne.
“It was a great show and 2 Chainz was awesome. The DJ was good too,” wrote one Redditor. “But really sucks that Wayne no-showed.”
But this is far from the first time Lil Wayne has failed to appear at his own show. He cancelled a Toronto performance last year after fans had already packed the venue to see him. In 2024, he didn’t show up for a scheduled appearance at Tahoe Live. The year before that, he walked out during a show in Los Angeles because the crowd didn’t seem to be feeling it enough to his liking.
In 2019, he refused to go through security in Miami, leading to a cancellation. Two years before that, he cancelled a gig in South Carolina—again after he refused to go through security. Between 2015 and 2017, he also missed three shows in Minneapolis.
Also in 2019, rumors circulated that Lil Wayne wouldn’t show up for a show at the Bangor Waterfront after he cancelled a performance in Virginia just days prior.
