Motorsport<\/a> fans were treated to a special demonstration at the Bathurst<\/a> 12 Hour with a Red Bull F1 car performing the national anthem before scorching around Mount Panorama on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Fans gathered around to hear the unique rendition of Advance Australia Fair before Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson took the 2011-model RB7 around the famous circuit.<\/p>\n

But fans were also left a tad disappointed with Lawson not attempting a new lap record.<\/p>\n

There was talk the 20-year-old would attempt to break the record set by Jenson Button in 2011 when he drove his McLaren around the track in a time of 1:48s.<\/p>\n

And while there was no attempt at a record, it\u2019s believed Lawson could have completed the 6.2km circuit in 1:30s.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the Kiwi said it was one of the best experiences of his life.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was probably the coolest thing I\u2019ve ever done in my life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was really, really cool.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did one lap in the safety car this morning to get an eye for this place. Doing it in a Formula 1 car is completely crazy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first lap I was honestly so nervous, but after that it actually felt really good.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s completely flat through the chase, braking at 120, 130 metres. The car handled the bumps really well. Over the top it was really fast.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the most special thing [I\u2019ve done]. Doing an official F1 session, free practice last year, is the biggest achievement that I\u2019ve had. But doing something like this in a car that I grew up watching is more special.<\/p>\n
\u201cPure fun. It was cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s demonstration between qualifying sessions came a day after a horror crash during practice.<\/p>\n
Keith Kassulke\u2019s MARC II V8 was left upside down after exiting the Mount Panorama track at The Chase and careening into the barriers after the session\u2019s midway point.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Supercars officials said Kassulke, who was taken to the medical centre for checks, was \u201cwas conscious throughout, communicating with the recovery teams and suffered no major injuries\u201d.<\/p>\n
