Wilfried Gnonto has submitted a formal transfer request to try and force through a move away from Leeds United, 90min understands.
The Italy international racked up two goals and four assists in his debut Premier League season last year but could not save Leeds from relegation to the Championship.
Gnonto has seen been the subject of plenty of interest from a number of Europe’s top leagues, with Everton seeing a bid rejected – after which the 19-year-old withdrew himself from the Leeds squad to face Shrewsbury.
In response to Gnonto’s stance, Leeds confirmed publicly that they would take disciplinary action against the teenager, stressing that he is not for sale this summer.
To try and encourage Leeds to let him go, Gnonto has now submitted a written transfer request.

While Everton did turn their attention to another Leeds winger, landing Jack Harrison on loan, 90min understands the Toffees remain interested in striking a deal for Gnonto if he is eventually allowed to leave.
Gnonto also has plenty of interest from Italy, where Juventus, Inter and Napoli have all enquired about taking the 12-cap international on loan for the remainder of the season.
Leeds face another dilemma over fellow winger Luis Sinisterra who, like Gnonto, is keen to leave Elland Road after relegation.
Sinisterra’s contract is understood to have had a relegation release clause but sources believe that clause has now expired.
