In the song, Kendrick raps, “Better not speak on Serena,” being that Drake has mentioned the tennis legend in his songs before. When Did Drake & Serena Williams Date?
Drake and Serena dated sometime between 2011 and 2015, according to multiple outlets, however, the length of their relationship is unknown.
Why Did Serena Williams & Drake Break Up?
A clip of Drake speaking on what his 2016 song, “Too Good” is about, resurfaced on X, and it features the rapper gets candid while confirming that it is in fact about the breakup between “me and Serena.”
He transparently shared: “I get heavy on a couple joints, but this is more about me and Serena. It’s funny because when I make songs about women, I also make songs for them. So, I know what kind of song to make. If I’m gonna talk about them, I’ll at least do them the justice of making them a song that they like. So, I know Serena very well, and I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear, but she’ll also not hate me for it because it’s lighthearted.”

The song’s lyrics go over the disconnect that Drake felt towards Serena, despite putting forward his best efforts, and he states that he felt unappreciated. The lyrics in part are: “I don’t know how to talk to you/ I just know I found myself getting lost with you/ Lately you just make me work too hard for you/ Got me on flights overseas, and I still can’t get across to you.”
The chorus continues: “I’m too good to you/ I’m way too good to you/ You take my love for granted/ I just don’t understand it.”
This isn’t the first time that the rapper mentioned her in his songs. In his 2013 song, “Worst Behavior,” he raps: “I’m with my whole set, tennis matches at the crib / I swear I could beat Serena when she playing with her left.”

Who Is Serena Williams’ Husband?
Serena married Reddit Co-Founder, Alexis Ohanian in 2017 and the love birds share two children. Not only did Drake rap about Serena, but he rapped about her husband as well. In 2022, he released the song “Middle of the Ocean” in which he referred to her husband as a “groupie.” He rapped: “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don’t got a problem but / No boo, it is like you coming for sushi.”
Alexis hit back at the rapper on X and wrote: “The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife [and] daughter.” He romantically added: “It’s cliche, but life changed when I became a husband + papa.
