Vinicius Junior makes Kylian Mbappe demand in Real Madrid contract talks

Vinicius Junior will demand to be paid a similar sum to teammate Kylian Mbappe in his next round of contract talks with Real Madrid, a report has revealed.

The Brazilian signed a new contract in October 2023 which will have just two years to run at the end of the current season, with Madrid already planning to open talks over an extension during the summer.

As noted by AS, Vinicius would be more than happy to sign an extension, but Madrid will have to make a significant financial investment in his services to get a deal done.

When Vinicius signed his last contract, he accepted a salary lower than the club’s top earners, but he will demand parity with Mbappe when talks are held this time around, confident that his importance to the team is at least equal to the Frenchman.

The main complication will be interest from Saudi Arabia, who have long seen Vinicius as a potential blockbuster signing. Al Ahli were keen on signing the winger during the summer, only to baulk at Madrid’s determination to receive his €1bn release clause in full.

It is claimed that Vinicius, while not exactly thrilled by the prospect of moving to Saudi Arabia, wanted to at least entertain the offer, sparking concern inside Madrid that they may find themselves in a bidding war to retain the 24-year-old.

However, it is stressed that Vinicius is happy in Madrid and wants to continue with Carlo Ancelotti’s side, although only if he is paid the sort of wages he believes he has earned.
