The US men’s national team will take on Germany on October 14 at Rentschler Field in Connecticut in whats bound to be one of the most difficult challenges for the American side.
Although it’s just an international friendly, both teams will want to put on a show as the world will be watching to see how the battle between the two nations unfolds.
The US will be eager continue their strong run, after losing just once in their last five games in the 1-1 (5-4 on penalties) defeat to Panama in the 2023 Gold Cup semifinals. Outside of the summer disappointment, the US have won the other four games during the period against the likes of Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Uzbekistan and Oman.
On the other hand, a coaching change was made for Die Mansschaft after Hansi Flick couldn’t a deliver a win depiste having five attempts to do as well as a poor 2022 World Cup group stage exit. As Flick was dismissed from his coaching duties, Germany decided to bring in the young Julian Nagelsmann, who last coached for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in late March.
Before Germany’s 2-1 triumph over France, the European side dropped three consecutive contests against Japan, Colombia and Poland.

Although Tyler Adams made his debut for Bournemouth last month in the Carabao Cup, he still remains injured after already missing six months of action due to a hamstring problem. Adams remains key to the US setup, and he might have to undergo surgery to fix the hamstring injury that’s been hampering him.
PSV’s Malik Tillman was originally included in the 23-player squad for the USMNT, but a knock suffered against Sparta Rotterdam inspired the inclusion of Alex Zendejas in the squad.
The injuries leave Gregg Berhalter to make a couple changes to the starting 11, but overall the team remains in tact.
USA predicted lineup vs Germany ( 4-3-3 ): Turner; Dest, Robinson, Ream, Jones; Musah, McKennie, de la Torre; Weah, Balogun, Pulisic.
Nagelsmann will be in the dugout for the first time ever as the new German boss, and the DFB have high hopes that the former TSG Hoffenheim head coach will bring home the 2024 European Championship on home soil.
Last month, the 36-year-old signed a contract with the DFB that runs until July 31, 2024.
Germany predicted lineup vs USA ( 4-2-3-1 ): ter Stegen; Süle, Hummels, Rüdiger, Raum; Kimmich, Goretzka; Sané, Musiala, Wirtz; Havertz.
With it being Nagelsmann’s first game in charge of Germany, it would be a tad unrealistic to expect his team to come out firing and playing exactly how he wants them. They should still be able to conjure up a few chances and put one past Matt Turner, though.
For the USMNT, they also might find chances few and far between due to the experienced German backline. It’ll more than likely end in a non-entertaining draw with both sides scoring a goal each.
Prediction: USA 1-1 Germany
