Michael Jordan teases an upcoming collaboration with Travis Scott, which many fans speculate is an Air Jordan sneaker with ‘UTOPIA’ branding, promoting Scott’s highly anticipated forthcoming album.
Michael Jordan recently took to Instagram to tease an upcoming collaboration with Travis Scott, sharing a clip where the two appear to video chat. On a table, an unidentifiable object, which may be a shoe box, is blurred. Scott says he’s working on something, and Jordan replies that it “looks nice.” The Air Jordan logo then appears, followed by the title of Travis Scott’s upcoming album, UTOPIA.
Many fans speculate that the pair have a new shoe collaboration in the works, this time one that focuses on promoting Travis’ forthcoming album. Indeed, sneakerheads report that sources have revealed the Travis Scott x Jordan sneaker, dubbed “Cut The Check,” will debut later this year, with more colorways planned for 2024.
Reportedly seen on the feet of Travis Scott several times in the past few months, the new Travis Scott x Jordan shoe “is a signature of sorts, as it’s the first original design to release as part of the collaboration,” says Sneaker News. “In addition to the signature backwards Swoosh, the silhouette affixes a branded strap over top a construction ostensibly inspired by existing Swoosh icons.”
Meanwhile, Travis Scott is expected to drop his UTOPIA album on July 28, when a listening party is scheduled in Egypt. Tickets to his performance at the Pyramids of Giza sold out within 30 minutes.
Scott also revealed that the new album will feature five different covers, with vinyl available for pre-order on his website. He says the upcoming album is reminiscent of some of his older projects, telling his audience at a festival performance that it reminds him of “Owl Pharaoh” (2013) and “Rodeo” (2015) — details which have many excited for the promise of a new fan favorite.
