This Is What Homelander, Starlight And Black Noir Bundles Look Like In ‘Call Of Duty,’ Plus Release Dates

Homelander

Call of Duty

In this age where there’s a new Fortnite skin for every superhero film, Star Wars project or action movie coming out, it’s a little bit hard to surprise me with in-game character crossovers anymore.

But uh, The Boys crossing over with Call of Duty? I can’t say I saw that one coming. After the announcement, we can now see the in-game bundles for Homelander, Starlight and Black Noir, the three characters chosen for the crossover. I think of all the characters from that show Karl Urban’s Butcher probably would have fit in the best with the Call of Duty aesthetic, but here we are.

In the past, Call of Duty’s crossovers have attempted to just give its existing fictional operators costumes resembling a character, like the infamous Levi from Attack on Titan one. These are not doing that, and instead definitely resemble the actors in question, namely Antony Starr’s Homelander and Erin Moriarty’s Starlight. Black Noir uh, obviously doesn’t need to resemble anyone specific.

The bundles cost 2400 COD points, which is about $20, pretty standard for crossover skins in most games. The skins can be used in Modern Warfare 2’s Warzone and DMZ. There are already complaints about the all-black Black Noir skin as possibly being too hard to see, given his coloring.

The game is doing a staggered release dates for the skins. The Starlight operator bundle was available yesterday, July 12. Homelander will be Sunday, July 16. Black Noir will be Thursday, July 20.

I’ve always wondered if there’s something in the contracts for these crossovers where if they appear in Call of Duty, they’re forbidden from appearing in Fortnite or vice versa. And before you say that Fortnite is a kids game and Call of Duty is M for Mature, Fortnite has had everyone from the R-rated John Wick to the M-rated Kratos and Marcus Fenix as crossovers, so that really doesn’t mean anything.

I think the Fortnite stylization of crossover skins is better than COD’s quasi-realism that can look a bit muddy, but overall these look pretty good. Though if Black Noir is too hard to see, I imagine Starlight’s bright white dress and Homelander’s flying flag cap are going to be easier to see than almost any other skin, so it’s a bit like playing with a handicap.

Call of Duty is no stranger to odd skins, as I remember back when they had the Jigsaw puppet from Saw as one. Leaked information suggests an actual Nicki Minaj operator is coming, and I can’t wait to see what that one looks like.
