On Friday, February 25, for the second year in a row, Latvian musicians will unite in a charity concert “For the freedom of Ukraine!”. It will take place from 12.00 to 17.00 in the square near the Riga Congress House. The concert is a voluntary support of the cultural industry for Ukraine, which is experiencing large-scale Russian military aggression. Music is a tool with which we can support Ukraine and the people of Ukraine and protest against the war started by Russia.
The first part of the concert “Ukraine’s freedom” will feature the performances of Riga choirs and the “Rīga” orchestra, while the second part of the concert will feature Latvian musicians. The event will take place thanks to the initiative of the musician Ralf Eiland and the support of the Riga City Council. The concert will be filmed and broadcast by LTV1, TV3 and TV24.
During the concert, it will be possible to donate to the project “Light for Ukraine!” through the charity organization ziedot.lv. The donated funds will be used to purchase energy-efficient devices that will provide Ukrainian civilians with light sources. You can donate to this cause now, but during the concert you can donate by calling tel. 90006086 (1.42 euros). Additional information about the charity project on the website www.ziedot.lv/gaisma. It will also be possible to donate to the support of Ukraine through the associations “Your Friends” and “BORSHČS – Delicious for Ukrainians”.
on February 24 and 25 from From 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the square near the Riga Congress House, there will be a candle-making campaign organized by the “Ukrainian and Latvian Friendship” society, in which anyone interested will be able to participate. The society will send the made candles both to the soldiers of the armed forces of Ukraine on the front and to the civilians of Ukraine.
On both February 24 and 25, the facade of the Riga Congress House will be illuminated.
Continuing the tradition started in 2022, we invite you to create a path of candles from Ukraine to the Russian Embassy in memory of those who fell in Ukraine.
