The biggest rating downgrades in EA Sports FC 24

The new EA Sports FC 24 game is out, and everyone is talking about the ratings of their favourite players.

While avid football fans and gamers are most interested in the ratings, plenty of players have likely been checking if their rating has gone up or down this year too.

No player wants to see their overall rating drop from one game to the next, but there are some who have had to accept that they are not viewed by EA Sports as being quite the player that they used to be.

Here are some of the players that have received the biggest downgrades in the new EA Sports FC 24 game.

Jamie Vardy – Leicester City

The fact that Jamie Vardy is not rated as highly anymore is not exactly a great surprise, but the drop of his rating is quite stark this year.

Given Vardy only managed six goals in the 2022/23 season – three in the Premier League and three in the EFL Cup – he was always going to receive a downgrade in the new game. Factor in that he is now a Championship player and is 36 years old, it was set to be a fairly sizeable one too.

Even still, few people expected Vardy to drop by seven points. He was 85-rated in FIFA 23 but he is a 78-rated striker in EA Sports FC 24.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Al Nassr

This probably isn’t much of a shock. Nobody expected Cristiano Ronaldo to maintain his rating from FIFA 23 after he made the move to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo really soured his reputation during his final days at Manchester United and while he has been scoring plenty of goals in Saudi Arabia, that wasn’t enough to save his 90 rating.

Joel Matip – Liverpool

He may seem like a rogue inclusion here but someone at EA Sports FC 24 headquarters was not impressed with Joel Matip’s performances over the past year or so. The Liverpool defender was one of many who did not play as well as Jurgen Klopp would have liked in 2022/23.

He is still at Liverpool despite many assuming that he may be shipped out, so Klopp clearly values him as a depth option. Despite that, he has suffered a drop of four points in his rating.

Hugo Lloris – Tottenham

It has not been a good year for Hugo Lloris as a string of errors led to him being replaced in the summer by Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario at Tottenham.

At one point last season, he conceded five in one half against Newcastle and was hooked at half time. That sort of thing that leads to a four-point downgrade in your EA Sports FC rating, and that’s exactly what it has done.

Mason Mount – Manchester United

Generally speaking, it is players coming towards the end of their careers that get big downgrades on these games, but that is not the case for Mason Mount. The midfield endure a very bad year at Chelsea last season – as Chelsea did – and it was noticed by the game developers.

He has since left for Man Utd and, despite struggling with an injury, there are signs to suggest that he’s on his way back to his best again. This new rating may well go up very soon, but he has been docked three points for now.

Based on the evidence, moving to the Saudi Pro League is not going to help you get a higher rating on EA Sports FC 24.

While many players who have headed to Saudi Arabia are coming towards the end of their careers, there are a few who may not have expected such a drop. We know that Cristiano Ronaldo’s rating dropped by four points, but there was also a three rating drop for Jordan Henderson, N’Golo Kante and Sadio Mane too.
