Spotify Unleashes a Clever Pre-Grammy Advertising Concept for Best New Artist Nominees

Spotify launches a clever Best New Artist Grammy nominee campaign showcasing each artist as a child before their respective meteoric rise to fame.

Ahead of this year’s Grammy Awards, Spotify has launched a unique campaign showcasing each Best New Artist nominee from their early childhood beginnings to their ascension to fame. Starting today (January 26), billboards in each nominee’s hometown will spotlight their defining music and feature a childhood photo.

The campaign spans London and U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Lafayette, and Carlsbad in California, as well as Brooklyn and New York City. Fans can find billboards of The Marias, Katseye, Addison Rae, and Alex Warren in the aforementioned California cities; Leon Thomas and sombr in New York; and Lola Young and Olivia Dean in London.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, January 29, Spotify will host its annual Best New Artist event in Los Angeles, honoring the 2026 nominees and celebrating their years of work that led to their recognition. Each of the featured artists will attend the event, as well as perform.

Last year, ahead of the 2025 Grammy Awards, Spotify launched a global campaign showcasing the unique fandoms of artists like Doechii, Chappell Roan, Bad Bunny, and Oasis.

Spotify recently expanded its beta rollout for its new AI-powered Prompted Playlists after an initial test run in New Zealand. The functionality builds on an earlier AI text prompt feature, enabling longer, more nuanced prompts that take into consideration your entire Spotify listening history.

Subscribers in the U.S. and Canada should find the beta feature available by the end of the month, and can head to the Create section to get started. Unlike the initial AI-based text prompt feature, Spotify’s Prompted Playlists allow you to be as specific as you want, and you can always tweak the prompt or change it altogether. Spotify will roll it out to more regions in the coming months.
