Former Bad Boy artist Shyne breaks his silence after Diddy’s arrest in New York. ‘This is someone who destroyed my life; he sent me to prison.’

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, former Bad Boy rapper and current Leader of the Opposition in Belize, recently spoke out about Sean “Diddy” Combs after the latter was taken into federal custody in New York this week.

When asked about the arrest during a press conference, Barrow said, “One of the things that I would never wish on my worst enemy is to be incarcerated or to be sick, to be bedridden. So I take no joy in anyone’s challenges, whether with the criminal justice system or otherwise.”

“But I’d just like to clarify,” he continued. “You have to be truthful in the description of the relationship. This is someone who, in essence, testified against me when I was on trial, when I was an 18-year-old kid just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud and do what all of us want to do, be recognized for our talent and take over the world.”

“This is not someone who I vacationed with, this is someone who destroyed my life, and who I forgave, and who I moved on, and for the better interest of Belize because he was in a position at that time to give scholarships and maybe to invest,” Barrow explained. “I would not deny attempting to bring the investment to Belize and bring the contributions to education.”

Asked if he knew about or had taken part in any of Diddy’s now infamous “freak-offs,” Barrow insisted he had “nothing to do” with his personal life. “No interaction at that level. Everything was strictly on a professional level.”

Shyne was arrested and served nine years in prison for the events that unfolded at a nightclub in 1999 where he was attending a party with his then-mentor and label boss Combs, and Combs’ then-girlfriend, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez. A fight broke out, guns were drawn, and shots were fired, with three individuals sustaining injuries. Many accounts say that it was actually Diddy who pulled the trigger, but blamed the young Shyne who then took the fall.

It’s unknown if the nightclub incident will resurface or if the case will be reopened in light of the recent investigation against Combs.
