Earlier this week, the Irwins were mourning the loss of a beloved member of Australia Zoo – Rhino the rhinocerous iguana.

One of the first animals visitors to Australia Zoo saw when they walked in, Rhino had been part of the family since 1993, a year after Steve and Terri Irwin got married.

Robert joined Terri, his sister Bindi, and her husband Chandler to announce Rhino’s death in an emotional video posted to Instagram.

Bindi struggled with tears as she spoke about Rhino, while Robert described the 42-year-old iguana as being full of “sass” and “attitude.”

“He lived a brilliant life every single day and that’s what you hold onto,” Robert said.
