“Rīga” Airport has obtained the highest Diamond category in the Sustainability Index

The sustainability index is a strategic management tool based on an internationally recognized methodology, helping Latvian companies to evaluate the sustainability of their operations and the level of corporate responsibility. Diamond status is awarded to companies that have consistently demonstrated high performance in the workplace, environment, society and other aspects of sustainability over a long period of time.

To qualify for this category, a member of the Sustainability Index must be able to maintain the Platinum level for at least five years and achieve a rating of at least 90% not only in the overall rating, but also in all five sections of this rating separately. In addition, publicly available information about the applicant’s attitude towards stakeholders, especially customers and employees, is evaluated. Also, experts of the Sustainability Index meet with the applicant and evaluate both its performance so far regarding the working environment, the surrounding environment, its supply chain and investments in the development of the industry and the country, as well as future plans for improving this performance.

“Sustainability in all its aspects is integrated into every work process at Riga Airport, and the Sustainability Index has been a valuable tool for achieving our business goals, identifying gaps and improving various processes all these years since the company has been participating in it. The diamond category is a high rating for both the company as a whole and our employees, who with their work have made a significant contribution to achieving sustainability goals. We are determined to continue our work in order to prove our compliance with the highest sustainability standards in the years to come,” says Laila Odiņa, chairwoman of the board of the “Rīga” airport.
