An insight into the immediate reaction of Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to news of his omission from the club’s Champions League squad has been forthcoming late on Friday.
Aubameyang’s latest career blow, of course, was made official earlier today.
This came upon Chelsea unveiling their 25-man squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Owing to a chaotic winter transfer window, a host of new faces were unsurprisingly selected by boss Graham Potter, including the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix.
Making way for such fresh blood, though, was the aforementioned Aubameyang.
Remarkably, just six months on from his arrival in west London, after featuring from the off in all six of Chelsea’s group stage fixtures, it was decided that the Gabonese international will not be depended on to feature in any capacity across the remainder of the Blues’ European campaign.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of ‘Auba’ being cut to his core by the latest head-turning call made by the powers that be at Stamford Bridge.
As per a report from the reliable Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, the former Arsenal and Barcelona man was left ‘shocked and disappointed’ by news of his Champions League omission.
Not only that, but his Chelsea future, as a whole, is now viewed as being very much up in the air.
This comes with Aubameyang increasingly convinced that boss Potter and co. want rid of him at the earliest opportunity.
