President Biden has another challenger in the 2024 Democratic primaries.

Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota told CBS News that he will run for president, saying Mr. Biden won’t be able to win a general election.

“I have to” run, he said in a clip posted to Instagram by the CBS Mornings show.

“I will not sit still, I will not be quiet in the face of numbers that are so clearly saying that we’re going to be facing an emergency next November,” Mr. Phillips said.

He said that “President Biden has done a spectacular job for our country. But it’s not about the past. This is an election about the future,” he said.

Despite DNC backing that includes a refusal to hold debates, Mr. Biden already was being challenged by author Marianne Williamson and had faced a stronger challenge from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. until the scion of America’s most famous Democratic family opted to run as an independent.
