According to the magistrate, the boys lost control and there was no evidence Mrs Bute — who was driving a 4WD — hit the bike or intended to harm them.
Bute, who the magistrate said just wanted her stolen property back, was also injured in the crash.
She chose not to speak after walking out of court.
However the mother of Ronaldo Cockie Penny, the 18-year-old who was left fighting for life in the bike crash, slammed the sentence.
“They just made an example that it’s okay to run down Aboriginal kids, to take the law into their own hands and get away with it, she should have got the minimum: seven years,” she said.
Penny has since made a full recovery.
Mrs Bute’s lawyer revealed she had written an apology letter to those affected, saying “my actions were wrong and I deeply regret what happened”.
Mrs Bute has also been banned from driving for 3.5 years.
