After failures in Sochi, Bots/Puma wins the bronze medal in Germany

On Saturday, December 11, the third stage of the Eberspacher World Cup began on the Altenberg ice track for the two-seater crew competition, in which two Latvian duos: Mārtiņš Bots/Roberts Plūme and Andris Šics/Juris Šics.

After the first run, both Latvian duos TOP 5. Mārtiņš Bots/Roberts Plūme got off to a good start and finished the race with good lines, finishing in 41.924 seconds and the leaders Eggert/Benecken losing by 0.041 seconds. Second, returning from injury, Austrians Steu/Koller [+0.028].

On the other hand, Andris and Juris Šici with starting number 23 made a good trip, but when they started among the last, the ice quality was no longer the best, which allowed the athletes to finish in fifth position [+0.153].

Mārtiņš Bots/Roberts Plume made a small mistake in the second race, but made the rest of the track very well and made the sixth -best time, which guaranteed a place for the athletes on the podium, the World Cup winner Steu/Koller (Steu/Koller). Silver – Germany’s Toni Egger/Sasha Benecken [+0.003].

On the other hand, Schici made the second race without any mistakes and finished with the fourth best time, which guaranteed the experienced duo a high fifth place in the sum of two races. [+0.233]

The first day of the fourth Eberspacher World Cup will end with the women’s competition, in which four Latvians will start: Elīza Tīruma, Kendija Aparjode, Elīna Ieva Vitrol and Sigita Bērziņa.
