Rapper Travis Scott was arrested in Paris early Friday morning following an altercation with a security guard outside of the George V hotel. Here’s what we know.

According to a Paris prosecutor statement, police arrived at the hotel following a fight between Travis Scott and a security guard. “The [security guard] had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard,” reads the statement posted by local French outlets. Scott’s representatives have confirmed the arrest.

“We are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate,” says Melissa Nathan in a statement made to Deadline.

Footage of the incident appeared on TMZ, showing Parisian police dragging Travis Scott away from the hotel. Scott is placed in the back of a police vehicle as the cops work to clear out the crowd, he is eventually transferred to an ambulance and taken to the hospital. According to TMZ, during the brawl with his bodyguard, several vases were shattered inside the hotel.

So why was Travis Scott fighting with his bodyguard? Rumors suggest paparazzi were chasing the rapper around Paris. Scott was reportedly extremely upset and reacted violently in the lobby, forcing hotel staff to call the police. Scott currently remains in police custody, but he has not been charged with any crime.

Scott was attending the Olympics and recently left the USA vs. Serbia men’s basketball semifinal match on Thursday evening. Hours before the rapper’s arrest, fans and paparazzi followed him down the street as he walked. Scott approached a police officer and asked for help clearing the path—but the cops didn’t respond.

The rapper recently had a disorderly intoxication charge dropped from his June arrest on a yacht after assaulting staff. The state of Florida is moving forward with its misdemeanor trespassing charge against the rapper. He will go to trial for that charge on September 10.
