Final print edition shipped on October 30
The editorial department for Akaneshinsha‘s Opera magazine announced on X (formerly Twitter) the magazine will switch to a digital format following the release of its 100th and final print issue on Friday. The first digital-only issue will launch in spring 2027.
The commemorative 100th issue looks back on the history of the magazine and includes work from 40 past contributors illustrating the futures of their characters. A special 100th issue exhibition will be held in Tokyo from December 26 – January 24.
The magazine launched in December 2005. Notable series published in the magazine in the past include Asumiko Nakamura‘s Classmates; Syundei‘s Go for It, Nakamura!; and its sequel Go for It Again, Nakamura!.
