On March 29, “Forum Cinemas” will host a special charity screening of the newly awarded film “This Rain Will Never End” at Artdocfest Riga, which will be dedicated to the support of young Ukrainian documentary filmmakers, portal balticevents.info informs.
“This rain will never end” is a Latvian and Ukrainian film, the music of which is composed by the Latvian musician Goran Gora. The film takes viewers on a powerful and visually stunning journey through an endless cycle of war and peace. The main character of the film is 20-year-old Andriy Suleiman, who is trying to build his future while being in armed conflict situations. From the civil war in Syria to the unrest in Ukraine, Andriy’s life is shaped by a seemingly eternal flow of life and death.
Last year, the film was shown at more than 60 world festivals, in more than 40 countries and received 12 major awards. The world premiere of the film “This Rain Will Never End” was celebrated as a participant of the prestigious First Appearance competition of the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival IDFA, later it received the main awards at the festivals of Las Palmas (Spain), Festival Dei Popoli (Italy), goEast (Germany) and Docudays UA (Ukraine). The film was nominated for the European Film Academy Award as one of the best European documentaries. The co-producer of FilmasLatvijas is Ilona Bičevska from Avantis studio.
In the introduction of the charity screening, musician Goran Gora is expected to perform, and after the film, an online conversation with the filmmakers from Ukraine and Latvia is planned.
This screening will be dedicated to supporting young Ukrainian documentarians who continue to help civilians as well as document the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Among them are the creators of the film “This Rain Will Not End” – director Alina Gorlova and producer Maxim Nakonechny.
