Garmin have not announced the Forerunner 265 or Forerunner 965 yet, but another retailer has listed the pair online. Both smartwatches will cost more than their predecessors. However, the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 will contain several upgrades over the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955.
Gadgets & Wearables has discovered marketing renders, US prices and specifications of two upcoming Garmin smartwatches. For some reason, 5 Under Golf listed the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 955 ahead of schedule, with no launch in sight for either model. Regardless, 5 Under Golf has revealed the following specifications:
- Forerunner 265
- AMOLED display
- 42 mm and 46 mm case sizes
- 13 days battery life in smartwatch mode, 20 hours in GPS mode
- Forerunner 965
- 1.4-inch AMOLED display
- 46 mm only case size
- Lightweight titanium bezel
- 23 days battery life in smartwatch mode, 31 hours in GPS mode
As expected, Garmin will sell the smaller Forerunner 265 as the Forerunner 265s, mirroring the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 255s. Additionally, all variants will support music streaming, with Garmin abandoning dedicated ‘Music’ models. Moreover, the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265 will feature Training Readiness, a feature that Garmin previously restricted to more expensive smartwatch series.
Previously, the Forerunner 265 was rumoured to launch for US$499.99, US$100 more than any Forerunner 255 model, including the Forerunner 255 Music. However, 5 Under Golf priced the Forerunner 265 at US$449.99, a more moderate uplift from the Forerunner 255. The Forerunner 965 will receive a steeper price increase relative to the Forerunner 955 though, with the series starting at US$599.99 and €649.99, US$100 and €100 more expensive than the entry-level Forerunner 955 series.
