SIA “Neste Latvija”, the leading fuel trader in Latvia, has started the installation of electricity generators throughout the “Neste” gas filling network in Latvia, in order to ensure the availability of electricity 24/7 and refueling without interruptions. It is planned that in the middle of this year, almost half or 31 “Neste” gas stations will be equipped with electricity generators, which will turn on automatically in case of power outages.
“The main reason for the installation of diesel generators in the “Neste” DUS network is the infrequent power outages, especially in regions in Latvia characterized by sharp weather changes and strong thunderstorms during the summer period. As a result of outages, both refueling facilities and interrupted refueling, if performed by our customers at that time, can suffer. But undoubtedly, when the war in Ukraine started, we concluded that the risks are even wider, and this project has a strategic importance,” explains the chairman of the board of SIA “Neste Latvija” Armands Beiziķis.
“There are currently 76 automatic “Neste” gas filling stations operating in Latvia, and more than nine million gas fillings take place in them during the year. If in previous years we have worked a lot to expand the gas filling network throughout Latvia, then our main task now is to make the DUS network work 24/7, that is, to make our services available to customers continuously. By the middle of the year, we will equip almost half of our DUS network, and the plan is that every Latvian city has at least one or more Neste DUS, which will be equipped with electricity generators, respectively ready for X hour, in the hope that one will not arrive,” adds Armands Beiziķis.
