Mikel Arteta has said that he’s delighted with reaching 100 wins as Arsenal manager, but was keen to insist that such a milestone isn’t a ‘title’.
Arteta’s team were very impressive at Craven Cottage, putting Fulham to the sword in the Premier League with a dominant first half display in an eventual 3-0 win.
The result sees the Gunners move back to five points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City in the title race, and was also Arteta’s 100th win as the club’s manager.
The ex-Man City assistant coach took the reins at Arsenal at the tail-end of 2019, and since then has won the FA Cup and oversaw this season’s remarkable rise from top four contenders to title favourites.
When asked about the 100 win milestone by the club’s official website, Arteta said: “It’s great [100 wins], we have to continue like that, I’m delighted to do that, unfortunately, it’s not a title, so there’s still a lot to improve.
“It is incredible and that means that we have a lot of people doing the right things at the club. In the team a lot of players contributing immensely and especially the support that we have, which in my opinion, has absolutely transformed this team with that energy, so I’m really happy.”
Arteta will be hoping to make it 101 wins as Arsenal manager when the Gunners face off against Sporting CP in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 clash on Thursday evening.
