Manuel Ugarte is expected to become a Manchester United player by the end of the transfer window.
Whether the Red Devils buy him outright from Paris Saint-Germain or take him on an initial loan, it has been widely reported that the midfielder should be at Old Trafford one way or another for the 2024/25 season.
With a move to Manchester on the horizon, United fans are beginning to wonder which number Ugarte could sport for them.
Here are the options available to Ugarte, plus a look at his shirt number history.
Considering he only turned 23 earlier this year, Ugarte has been around the block when it comes to shirt numbers.
After breaking into the senior fold at boyhood side Fenix in Montevideo, Ugarte took on the number 20 for five seasons.
He signed for Portuguese side Famalicao in 2020, spending just over a year there while wearing number 8. This was the first in a series of quick moves for Ugarte, who then joined Sporting CP in 2021 and was handed number 15.
Once more, the midfielder only stayed put for 12 months before heading on again, this time to PSG. After initially being given number 14, Ugarte quickly transferred to 4 instead.
With the Uruguayan youth and senior teams, Ugarte has made his way through a plethora of numbers, wearing all of 5, 6, 15, 17, 20 and 25.
United’s flurry of summer transfer business has limited the key numbers available to Ugarte should he join, with only double-digit shirts available.
In fact, the lowest number vacant right now is 13, which is usually taken by goalkeepers.
Other than that, Ugarte could also be handed 19, any number from 26 to 34, 38, 40, 42, 45 or anything from 47 upwards.
