Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has confirmed Alexis Mac Allister has returned to full training with the team ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Colombia.
The Liverpool midfielder had been kept out of training last week with what was reported to be an adductor issue, although no injury was ever formally confirmed.
Asked for an update, Scaloni put Liverpool fans’ fears to bed by revealing the 25-year-old is already back in full training.
“The team is fine, recovering from the game the other day, with some typical ailments,” Scaloni said. “Nico [Gonzalez] trained separately and Alexis with the rest of the group.”
There has not been any final decision on Mac Allister’s involvement against Colombia, however.
“We will see how they have evolved over the next two days to decide how we are going to play,” Scaloni added.
Liverpool are back in Premier League action on September 14, when Nottingham Forest head to Anfield to try and end Arne Slot’s perfect record as Reds manager.
Mac Allister has played every minute under the new boss and has quickly established himself as one of Slot’s most-trusted players alongside fellow midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch.
