Liverpool predicted lineup vs Brentford

Liverpool’s Premier League title charge resumes shortly after midday on Saturday when they visit 14th-placed Brentford.

The Reds returned to winning ways by beating Burnley at Anfield last weekend, having been defeated by rivals Arsenal to reduce their lead at the top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp has a fair amount of fitness worries to concern himself with, but there could be a return for star forward Mohamed Salah as he recovers from the hamstring injury suffered at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Here’s the side Liverpool could put out on Saturday.

GK: Alisson – Missed the Burnley victory with illness but has been spotted in training at Melwood and should replace Caoimhin Kelleher between the sticks.

RB: Joe Gomez – Also sidelined by a bug last week, Gomez should be fit for the trip to Brentford. That’s timely news for Klopp with Trent Alexander-Arnold already ruled out of the Carabao Cup final with a knee injury while Conor Bradley is just returning after compassionate leave.

CB: Ibrahima Konate – Available again after suspension and should come back into the starting XI at the expense of Jarell Quansah.

CB: Virgil van Dijk – Is without a clean sheet in his last five Reds appearances, the last coming in a 4-0 win over Bournemouth in January.

LB: Andy Robertson – Made his first start since returning from injury last Saturday and looked as game as ever after cameo appearances against Norwich, Chelsea and Arsenal.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister – Dominik Szoboszlai’s likely absence means Mac Allister will play more advanced than his usual deep role. Has one Premier League goal this season having managed ten with Brighton last term.

CM: Wataru Endo – The Japan international’s steady presence will be key against a Brentford side likely to rely on their threat on the counter attack.

CM: Curtis Jones – Impressed his teammates when filling in at right-back against Burnley but will be back in midfield ahead of the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Harvey Elliott, with Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic both injured.

RW: Diogo Jota – Mohamed Salah is back in training and could return from injury here, but Jota is in sparkling form and the Egyptian is more likely to be eased back from the bench.

ST: Darwin Nunez – While Ivan Toney will provide a goal threat for the hosts, Nunez must be clinical on what could be a difficult away day in west London.

LW: Luis Diaz – Has three goals and an assist in his last five games, taking his Premier League tally to five strikes this season.
