Linkin Park’s new single “The Emptiness Machine” didn’t need much time before it hit No. 1 on all of Billboard’s rock radio charts. The comeback track from the group soared straight to the summit across the airplay lists that focus on rock styles, earning one of the fastest climbs to the top spot in history.

“The Emptiness Machine” hits No. 1 on one more radio ranking this frame, completing its journey to the peak on all of the rock rosters. The tune lifts from third place to the throne on this week’s Mainstream Rock Airplay list.

Linkin Park earns their eleventh No. 1 on that radio chart as they collect another leader. Billboard notes that the band now claims the ninth-most winners on the Mainstream Rock Airplay roster, and they may soon tie another one of the most beloved names in the field.

With “The Emptiness Machine,” Linkin Park moves up on the list of artists with the most rulers on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, landing just behind Disturbed. That band has thus far accumulated a dozen No. 1s, and that figure could grow again whenever they have more new music to share with the world.

Shinedown claims the most No. 1s in the history of the tally, with 19. Three Days Grace comes in second place on this all-time ranking, with 17 champions.

Linkin Park has racked up three No. 1 hits in a row on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. “The Emptiness Machine” marks their first newly-written and produced song in some years, but for a while now, the band has been sharing older cuts that the public never got to hear, and many of them have become rock radio smashes.

The band added to their total number of winners in 2023 with “Lost,” which topped the tally for eight weeks. Earlier in 2024, they returned to the summit once more with “Friendly Fire,” which served as a single from their greatest hits compilation Papercuts, which dropped a few months ago.

This week, “The Emptiness Machine” sits at No. 1 on at least five different Billboard tallies. The single is steady at No. 1 on both the Rock & Alternative Airplay and Alternative Airplay charts. It’s also a non-mover atop the Hot Hard Rock Songs and Hard Rock Streaming Songs rankings.
