Kylie Minogue’s hit single “Padam Padam” became a song of the summer last year, culminating in the release of her fifteenth studio album Tension last September. Now, a year later, the legendary pop star is keeping the Tension going with the sequel album Tension II, due out Oct. 18. To set the stage for Tension’s second act, Minogue just released lead single “Lights Camera Action” as a teaser of what’s to come.
So far this year, Minogue has done collaborations with Sia, Orville Peck and Diplo, Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo, and The Blessed Madonna, but on “Lights Camera Action,” Minogue is the solo star of the show. “Tuning in, tuning out / All I want is the noise / Turn it up, turn it loud / Till you ain’t got a choice / We’re turning sinful tonight / It’s about to go off / Tell me, can you feel it?” she sings on the track, repeating “Lights, camera, action, that’s it.” Although the song lives in the electropop world of Tension, it sounds Tension II could function as the late-night counterpart of sorts to the lighter first installment.
After wrapping up her first Las Vegas residency earlier this year, the Aussie superstar is gearing up to take both Tension albums—and her three decades of hits—on the road next year for the Tension Tour.
“I am beyond excited to announce the Tension Tour 2025,” the singer said in a statement. “I can’t wait to share beautiful and wild moments with fans all over the world, celebrating the Tension era and more. It’s been an exhilarating ride so far and now, get ready for your close up because I will be calling ‘Lights, Camera, Action,’ and there will be a whole lot of Padaming.”
Tension II will be released Oct. 18. The Tension Tour kicks off Feb. 15, 2025 in Perth and wraps up June 2 in London.
