Kylie Bazzo farewelled in emotional service at Rushton Park, home of club where she broke ground as CEO

One of the women who was killed in a tragic boat crash in Mandurah last month has been farewelled in an emotional service.

There was a huge turnout for Kylie Bazzo on Friday, who was remembered as a hardworking mother who did everything she could for her kids, Rhett, a West Coast Eagles player, and daughter Kameron.

Kylie, 52, was the first woman to be appointed to the role of chief executive at a WAFL club, something she achieved in 2000 with Peel Thunder.

Her funeral was held at the club’s home ground at Rushton Park.

Her son Rhett was supported by teammates and West Coast staff.

Debbie Burdon, Kylie’s friend, was also killed in the crash.

The pair was thrown into the water when the vessel they were in struck a navigation marker near Creery Island in the Mandurah estuary on January 22.

Deborah, a mother of two, was recovered from the water shortly after the crash but could not be revived and died at the scene.

Kylie’s body was found by water police the following night after a wide-ranging search.

Debbie’s husband John Burdon, 47, was charged with two counts of manslaughter over the incident.
