Kylian Mbappe has confirmed fans can expect formal confirmation of his next club “in the next few days”.
The French forward played his final game for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, helping his side lift the Coupe de France at Lyon’s expense. While he has confirmed he will leave his current club, Mbappe is yet to reveal his next move.
That being said, Mbappe is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer and the 25-year-old was recently asked why he is yet to actually name his next destination.
“Because I think the best thing to do is to finish saying goodbye,” Mbappe said after the Coupe de France triumph. “All I wanted was to finish well.
“There is a time for everything. I will announce my new club in due course. It will be only a few days away so there is no problem.”
Quizzed on whether his future would be finalised before Euro 2024 this summer, the Frenchman added: “I still don’t know, there are still some details. The most important thing was to win and to experience these final emotions.”
Mbappe departs PSG with a record of 256 goals and 108 assists in 308 games across his seven years at Parc des Princes.
“I always understood where I was, this unique experience of playing for PSG,” he reflected ahead of his departure. “Playing for PSG, I would recommend it.
“I was lucky enough to experience it. What I have had, I wouldn’t experience anywhere else. Now I’m going to experience something else and I’m sure that will be magical too.”
