Jude Bellingham has somehow managed to exceed expectations since joining Real Madrid, but not every little detail of the move has been completely perfect as it seems the England star has fired the personal chef that had been chosen for him by the club.
Alberto Mastromatteo built a reputation on his long relationship with Karim Benzema and Relevo describes the Mallorcan chef as “key in the physical transformation” of the striker, who arrived at the Bernabeu back in 2009 with “bad eating habits”.
It is reported that Madrid have wanted to take care of Bellingham in all areas, including the appointment of a trusted chef. But despite Mastromatteo’s track record working with footballers – including those other than Benzema, likes Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, the fit with Bellingham seemingly wasn’t right.
Relevo claims that a decision from the player and his mother, with whom he lives in the Valdemarin neighbourhood to the west of Madrid, has been taken to dispense with Mastromatteo’s services.
Nutrition is such a vital part of modern football, particularly when it comes to recovery, fitness, conditioning and injury prevention.
Having struggled with a knee injury at the end of last season, which arguably derailed Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga title challenge on the final day, Bellingham has mostly been fully available since arriving in Spain.
The 20-year-old hasn’t been wearing the knee support he needed during the first half of 2023 and only missed a single game when he dislocated his shoulder in a game in early November.
In 21 Madrid appearances across all competitions prior to Wednesday night’s 2024 opener against Mallorca, Bellingham has scored 17 times. Rodrygo (10) is the only other player in the squad so far this season to have even reached double figures in front of goal.
