During an interview at Ringo Starr’s Annual Peace & Love Birthday celebration, Joe Walsh contradicts the Eagles’ official announcement that their upcoming tour would be their final one.

The day after the Eagles released an official statement that their upcoming tour, “The Long Goodbye,” would be their final one, the band’s guitarist Joe Walsh seemingly contradicted their retirement plans. Walsh spoke to the press about the upcoming tour during Ringo Starr’s Annual Peace & Love Birthday celebration at Beverly Hills Garden Park.

“I think it’s probably the next to the last tour,” said Walsh. “We’re going to play until nobody comes. And then I guess we’re done.”

Ringo Starr added a comment to the interview, jokingly comparing the Eagles’ plans for a farewell tour to Elton John’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which began in 2018 and wrapped up last month: “They’ll probably be like Elton; it’d take three or four years to get to that last week.”

The Eagles’ “The Long Goodbye” tour kicks off at Madison Square Garden on September 7, with stops in Boston, Denver, Detroit, Cleveland, Atlanta, and more through November, with more dates forthcoming. It has also been confirmed that the late Glen Frey’s son Deacon Frey will join the band for the tour, while Steely Dan will play at all announced dates as a special guest.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available beginning July 12 for all announced shows, while the general on-sale begins Friday, July 14, at 10 AM local time.

“Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.” reads the band’s announcement on their website. “We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades.”
