On December 29, the premiere of the big ice show “Ikstīte” will take place at Arena Riga, on which Latvian athletes, producers and choreographers worked, informs the portal balticevents.info.
The show is based on the motifs of the fairy tale “Īkstīte” by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, and, as the creators of the show promise, it will combine the magic of a classic fairy tale with the art and sports discipline – figure skating, creating a show that will captivate both children and adults.
The show’s producer Olga Yakushina says: “This is a special project, and it is intended for everyone who wants to experience the magic of a classic fairy tale in a completely new form. Our team has created a high-quality performance, in which both local and international figure skating professionals are involved. The ice show “Īkstīte” is a story about courage, love and adventures – emotions that every viewer will be able to feel. It is not for nothing that more than one generation has grown up with this fairy tale in the world.”
In the performance, the adventures of Íkstīte on ice will be shown by professional figure skaters – laureates of the world and European championships, as well as participants in the Winter Olympics:
Diana Nikitina is a multiple winner of international competitions, Latvian champion in single figure skating, has participated in the world and European championships, as well as in the Winter Olympics, which were held in South Korea in 2018.
Aleksandrs Yakushins – an international-class master of sports and laureate of international competitions, has participated in the world and European championships, and is a participant in the world-famous ice shows “Disney on Ice” and “Kings on Ice”.
Kristīne and Eva Gailes are laureates of the Latvian championships, have participated in the “Grand Prix” competitions for juniors, as well as in the world and European championships in synchronized figure skating for teams.
Olga Yakushina is an international master, multiple champion of the Latvian Ice Dancing Championships, laureate of international competitions, participant of the world and European championships.
According to the organizers themselves, the show promises to be visually impressive, with musical accompaniment, gorgeous costumes and lights, as well as various special effects. The audience can expect acrobatic elements that will complement Īkstīte’s adventurous journey from the world of a small, fragile girl to victory over life’s difficulties. Today, preparations are in full swing and training with rehearsals are held every day.
Other events will take place in the ice rinks of Liepāja and Daugavpils, as well as outside the borders of Latvia. Immediately after the holidays, “Ikstīte” will go on a concert tour to Italy and Switzerland. Tickets for the Latvian premieres are available at all “Biļešu Serviss” box offices.
