SHAFT to produce anime adaptation
The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Ikkado Ito‘s The Long Summer of August 31 (August 31 no Long Summer) manga announced on Monday that it is getting a television anime by SHAFT, and a live-action series adaptation. The account also revealed the anime adaptation’s ultra teaser visual.

Seven Seas Entertainment and Kodansha‘s K MANGA service publish the manga physically and digitally, respectively. Seven Seas describes the story:
Caught in an endlessly repeating August 31st, high schoolers Suzuki Takaya and Takagi Kana are the only ones who remember each loop. The likely cause? Suzuki’s unfinished summer mission to secure a girlfriend and lose his virginity—the ultimate teenage goal. A hilarious yet heartfelt time-loop comedy!
Ito launched the manga in Kodansha‘s Morning magazine in 2023. Kodansha published the manga’s 13th compiled book volume on August 21. Seven Seas published the manga’s sixth volume physically on August 25.
Ito launched the I’m Not Meat: Get Your Filthy Paws Off Me! (Boku wa Oniku janai) manga in Shogakukan‘s Monthly Spirits magazine in July 2020. Shogakukan published the manga’s third and final compiled book volume in December 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga under its Ghost Ship imprint, and published the manga’s third and final volume in English in May 2023.
