FC Cincinnati sign general manager Chris Albright to new long-term contract

FC Cincinnati have signed general manager Chris Albright to a new long-term contract extension as the Eastern Conference team gear up for 2023 MLS Cup playoffs.

Albright joined Cincinnati in October 2021, when the Orange and Blue were closing in on the end to their third season in MLS that saw them miss the postseason in as many years. But Albright has since ushered in a new era, hiring head coach Pat Noonan to changed the trajectory of Cincinnati in such a short span.

With Albright and Noonan at the helm, Cincinnati have gone from basement dwellers to two-consecutive playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023, while also lifting the Supporters’ Shield this campaign and looking like heavy favorites for MLS Cup.

“Chris has done a tremendous job since he took the helm two years ago. FC Cincinnati have become one of the most exciting teams in Major League Soccer, leading to a 2023 Supporters’ Shield triumph,” FC Cincinnati Co-CEO Jeff Berding said in a release.

“We’re pleased to extend Chris and keep him and his family in Cincinnati for the long term. He will continue to provide leadership and stability over all soccer-related area.”

Albright believes the best is yet to come, and that the future is bright for Cincinnati and their supporters at TQL Stadium.

“I’m thrilled to extend my contract to stay with FC Cincinnati. For me and my family, coming here was a new adventure and we have been embraced fully by the club, the fans, and the city,” Albright said.

“It’s been an incredible 2 years and I’m looking forward to our continued growth and success in the future,” he added. “I’d like to thank Jeff, Carl, and all the ownership group for their commitment to the club and for their continued faith in what we’re building together.”

After the October international break, Cincinnati will return to action against on Decision Day (October 21) against Eastern Conference foes Atlanta United before MLS Cup playoffs kick-off on October 25. Due to their outstanding regular season play, the Orange and Blue won’t take part in the playoffs until Round One after the Wild Card matchups.
