The family of the 9-year-old victim of the Astroworld tragedy blasts Travis Scott’s team as ‘tone-deaf’ after his attorney claims that police released their final report of the investigation on the same day as the rapper’s ‘Utopia’ album to derail its success.

Travis Scott’s attorney’s comments about the release of the Houston Police Department’s detailed 1,266-page report covering their investigation into the Astroworld tragedy has the lawyer representing the family of the 9-year-old victim of the 2021 Astroworld crowd crush event blasting the rapper and his team for insensitive remarks. The report followed the extensive 18-month investigation into the ten deaths that occurred, its release coinciding with the release of Travis Scott’s Utopia album.

Police say the timing of the report’s release was a coincidence. Still, Travis Scott’s attorney Kent Schaffer insists that the timing was a deliberate attempt to negatively impact sales of the new album. Now, attorney Bob Hilliard, who represents the family of 9-year-old Astroworld victim Ezra Blount, is blasting Travis for his team’s “tone-deaf” comments.

“For an artist making his living with music, these are stunningly tone-deaf comments about this preventable tragedy that took so many lives and injured so many,” Hilliard tells DailyMail. “This extremely detailed and damning report confirms both the negligence and extreme gross negligence of those involved, including the Travis Scott team.

“For Mr. Scott to allow his lawyers and spokespeople to make the reckless and untrue statement that just because he was not indicted means he’s blame-free is arrogant and insulting to the memory of 10-year-old Ezra, as well as the other victims of this terrible night. Of course they would only focus on how the report’s release date hurts their album sales instead of the facts contained inside of the report.”

Meanwhile, Travis Scott’s Utopia has been busy setting streaming records on Spotify and Apple Music. At the same time, Travis is reportedly partying in Egypt despite Egyptian authorities having shut down his planned concert at the Pyramids of Giza.
