After federal agents arrested Cesar Pina for allegedly operating a Ponzi scheme disguised as a house-flipping business, DJ Envy received a subpoena related to the case.

The popular radio personality could face time behind bars if he fails to comply with the court-ordered subpoena of financial documents related to his dealings with Cesar Pina. DJ Envy promoted the company on his radio show ‘The Breakfast Club.’ He has until January 8 to produce documents requested by the court. Pina filed for bankruptcy in August.

“Should Cesar Pina, Jennifer Iturralde Pina, and/or Raashaun Casey (DJ Envy) fail to provide full and complete responses to the requests… the trustee shall file a notice of default with the court, at which time the court may convene a hearing to address appropriate sanctions against Cesar Pina, Jennifer Iturralde Pina, and Raashaun Casey for contempt of this court’s order,” the filing reads.

Cesar Pina was arrested in October 2023 for wire fraud in connection to his real estate ventures. DJ Envy claims that he was a victim of Pina’s real-state scam, which defrauded investors of millions of dollars. But his former partner has taken to social media to refute those claims, saying the defense is bogus.

“DJ Envy’s attorney defense that DJ Envy is a victim—that’s the dumbest shit I ever heard in my life,” Pina said during an Instagram Live stream. “Me and him were partners in the real estate seminars, we were partners in a couple of real estate transactions. That’s it. He’s not a victim. He was my partner, he was an investor.”

DJ Envy alleges he lost $500,000 in the real estate scheme after hiring Cesar and his wife to renovate and reposition a former school into an apartment building. Those claims surfaced in another lawsuit from two investors who say they were defrauded of $1.5 million when that apartment complex never materialized.
