Faced with multiple sexual assault allegations in several lawsuits, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs steps down as chairman of Revolt Media.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has stepped down from his position as chairman of Revolt Media in the face of sexual assault allegations in multiple lawsuits. The company, a cable TV network focused on music and social justice news, posted the announcement on social media.

“While Mr. Combs has previously had no operational or day-to-day role in the business, this decision helps to ensure that Revolt remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora,” the company wrote.

“Our focus has always been one that reflects our commitment to the collective journey of Revolt — one that is not driven by any individual, but by the shared efforts and values of our entire team on behalf of advancing, elevating, and championing our culture — and that continues.”

Revolt, which is carried by cable operators including Comcast, has previously utilized Combs’ celebrity status to elevate its profile as a cable network. Comcast announced an expanded partnership with Revolt in 2020.

Diddy recently settled a lawsuit filed by a former partner, singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who accused him of sexual and physical abuse that took place for nearly a decade. The rapper has vehemently denied the accusations via his lawyer, Ben Brafman.

Combs saw an increase in the number of sexual assault lawsuits filed against him last week to meet the deadline set by the Adult Survivors Act on November 23. Passed by New York lawmakers, the Adult Survivors Act enabled the victims of sexual crimes that occurred years or decades ago that would normally fall outside the statute of limitations to be filed and acted upon in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

As a result, Sean Combs was one of several prominent men named in such lawsuits before the deadline, including Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose, and actor and comedian Jamie Foxx.
