Diddy is reportedly living a luxury lifestyle in prison, complete with a team of fellow inmates who act as his personal staff.
Sean “Diddy” Combs arrived at Fort Dix in New Jersey last October after more than a year at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, and since then, he’s tried to get his 50-month sentencing reduced. Currently, he’s scheduled for release on January 21, 2028, and a Dateline exposé detailing the luxurious lifestyle the rapper has cultivated for himself behind bars suggests he won’t be getting out any sooner.
Since his incarceration, Combs has joined a drug rehabilitation program, but he’s also been involved in a fight with at least one other inmate and violated several prison guidelines over the past year. NBC News’ Dateline revealed that the former music mogul has a crew of fellow incarcerated men who receive funds in their commissary accounts in exchange for doing chores such as making the rapper’s bed, cleaning his bathroom, and even giving him massages.
“This is not some normal shit you see in jail. This is some rich shit,” one of the men told reporters. “It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”
A spokesperson for Combs attempted to downplay the details of his life in prison.
“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’ life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” the spokesperson said. “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence while awaiting the court’s decision on his appeal.”
Meanwhile, Combs has reportedly had regular access to top-shelf alcohol, a cell phone, and a tablet—items that inmates are not permitted access to without special authorization.
A Dateline reporter said she had spoken with several inmate sources inside Fort Dix. One inmate reportedly showed an Instagram account that Combs has allegedly been using to communicate with contacts outside the prison. The account has no profile picture but is damningly followed by Combs’ PR representative.
Combs was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following an eight-week trial during the summer of 2025. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. The rapper was sentenced in a New York federal courtroom to 50 months in prison, though he and his attorneys are still awaiting a decision on their appeal of that sentence.
