Death Row and Sony’s Extreme Music join forces to launch ‘Death Row Pro’ for sync licensing, bringing the iconic West Coast sound of Death Row Records to professional music users.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Snoop Dogg’s “Doggystyle,” Death Row has partnered with Extreme Music, Sony Music Publishing’s production music arm, to create Death Row Pro. This new venture aims to deliver a mix of unheard tracks from the Death Row vaults in addition to newly created West Coast-centric hip-hop using “Death Row DNA” to bring the iconic sound to professional music users.

“It’s an honor to partner with Extreme Music on the Death Row Pro series,” says Snoop Dogg, owner and CEO of Death Row.

Established in 1991, Death Row Records introduced the West Coast sound and gangster rap to the world stage, with albums like Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic” and Snoop’s “Doggystyle.” Together with founder Michael “Harry O” Harris, Snoop helped propel the signature West Coast hip-hop sound into a global phenomenon.

Over 30 years later, the launch of Death Row Pro celebrates the legacy of Death Row Records and the anniversary of “Doggystyle,” with the first releases of Death Row Pro anticipated to drop in January 2024.

“Extreme sets itself apart by striving for authenticity, and when it comes to hip-hop, there is nothing more authentic than Death Row,” adds Russell Emanuel, CEO of Extreme Music. “We are super excited to be bringing the sonic horsepower of Death Row to music supervisors.”

From its punk rock beginnings in Camden Town, London, Extreme Music today is renowned as production music’s poster child since 1997. Extreme strives to curate a collection of specialist licensing labels, gaining them a reputation for authenticity and drawing in discerning music supervisors and brands.

Among the roster of talent with whom Extreme has worked includes Quincy Jones, Hans Zimmer, Timbaland, XZibit, Atticus Ross, Sir George Martin, Labrinth, Rodney Jerkins, Ramin Djawadi, Ricky Reed, Harry Gregson-Williams, Michael Giacchino, Amon Tobin, John Powell, Marco Beltrami, Junkie XL, and many others.
