Amazon Prime Video has announced plans for another season of The Terminal List starring Chris Pratt alongside another new series focusing on the events before the debut season.

Based on Jack Carr’s action-thriller novels focusing on US Navy Seal James Reece, The Terminal List was about a growing, shadowy conspiracy, and how Reece set out to uncover it using his military training and connections. The streaming series brought much of the action and mystery from the Carr novels to life, and now Amazon is looking to branch the series out further.

In a press release from Amazon, it is revealed that the upcoming season of The Terminal List will bring back Chris Pratt and the rest of the cast for another installment in the conspiracy thriller storyline, which picks up right after the end of the first season and will adapt the sequel novel True Believer.

“I’m excited to announce that the second season of The Terminal List is on its way, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to reprise my role as James Reece,” Pratt said in a statement about the growing franchise. “This season promises to be even more intense and action-packed than the first, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

In addition to the second season announcement, a new prequel series is also in the works that will focus on the character Ben Edwards, played by Taylor Kitsch (Battleship, True Detective, and Friday Night Lights). His character appeared in the first season and serves a pivotal role in the plot. The prequel series plans to expand on his background further with more details about his dark and morally ambiguous past and what led up to the events of the first season.

“Fans of The Terminal List will be thrilled to see James Reece’s journey continue in an action-packed story of violent redemption in True Believer,” said author and executive producer Jack Carr in a statement. “And we’re so excited to build this Terminal List prequel and explore Ben Edwards, brought to life so powerfully by Taylor Kitsch.”

Though the first season had mixed reviews upon release, The Terminal List proved to be a popular hit for Amazon Prime Video, continuing on from the success of another streaming project starring Chris Pratt – The Tomorrow War. Currently, production on both the second season and the prequel series is in the early stages.

In our The Terminal List review, we said it “has both intriguing new elements and tried-and-true old methods that help it rise above the usual revenge yarn, but Chris Pratt shedding his smile and going full routine/rote strong-jaw action hero, along with the show’s insistence on repeating the same sentimental moments, make for a turgid watch at times, while also operating as examples of why this story should have been trimmed down and possibly reconceived.”

That said, we’ll hear plenty more about Chris Pratt this year. With the upcoming releases of The Super Mario Bros. Movie on April 7 – with him voicing Mario himself – and The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, it looks like he’ll have quite a year ahead of him. Be sure to stick with IGN for reviews on those films when they come out.
