Two of the Premier League’s giants have set their sights firmly on the signature of one of the most highly-regarded breakthrough talents at Arsenal, it is understood.
The player in question? Ethan Nwaneri.
Many of an Arsenal persuasion were of course afforded a first glimpse at the talents of midfielder Nwaneri earlier this season.
This came upon Mikel Arteta springing a surprise in naming the English youth international on the bench for his side’s Premier League’s showdown with Brentford back in September.
Nwaneri, in turn, was introduced off the bench late on against the Bees, in the process breaking Liverpool talent Harvey Elliott’s record as the youngest player to ever take to the pitch in a fixture in the competition.
Safe to say, then, that hopes are high when it comes to Nwaneri’s potential impact over the years to come on the red half of north London.
As alluded to above, though, if one of English football’s other top clubs has their way, then the diminutive midfield star could yet continue his push towards regular first-team football away from his long-time home.
This comes with reports on Thursday pointing towards not one, but two of Arsenal’s direct rivals – in the form of Chelsea and Manchester City – emerging as ‘serious contenders’ to bring Nwaneri in this summer.
It now remains to be seen whether the head of the 15-year-old can be turned.
