Chelsea confirm signing of Djordje Petrovic from New England Revolution

Chelsea have confirmed the transfer of Serbia international goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Major League Soccer team New England Revolution.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper leaves the Revs after joining in 2022 to replace Matt Turner, where he went on to make 48 appearances in all competitions for the MLS team. Prior to joining the American league, Petrovic featured for Serbian side Cukaricki from 2019 to 2022.

He now joins Mauricio Pochettino’s side on a long term deal, signing a seven-year contract with the option for a following season. Petrovic will now compete against first-choice goalkeeper with Robert Sanchez, who was recently signed from Brighton & Hove Albion.

“I’m so happy to be at Chelsea and I’m really excited to get started at this club,” Petrovic said in a Chelsea press release. “It’s a big step for me and it’s always been a dream of mine to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Today I have achieved that goal and I’m so happy.”
