Borderlands—the movie adaptation of the hit video game starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jack Black—is coming soon to digital streaming.
Borderlands was released in theaters on August 9 but bombed in its opening weekend. The logline for Borderlands reads, “Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B.”
Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands also stars Hart as a mercenary, Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as a scientist and archaeologist, Tanner, Ariana Greenblatt as a pre-teen demolitionist, Tiny Tina, and Florian Munteanu as her bodyguard, Krieg.

According to When to Stream, Borderlands is expected to debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Friday, August 30. The streaming tracker said that Borderland’s studio Lionsgate has not yet announced or confirmed the release date and the date is subject to change.
The streaming tracker, however, is typically accurate in its reports on PVOD release dates. DVD Releases reported the August 30 PVOD release date for Borderlands as well.
Borderlands is already up for pre-order for $24.99 on Prime Video. Pre-order prices are generally for a film’s purchase price on PVOD, while the price for PVOD rentals is $5 cheaper. As such, viewers can expect to rent Borderlands on PVOD for $19.99 for a 48-hour period when it becomes available on such digital outlets as Prime Video, AppleTV+ and VUDU.

The 21-day window from Borderlands’ release date to PVOD appears to be following the same quick-release pattern as the digital streaming release of the Lionsgate film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson and Eiza González, the action/World War II adventure movie opened in theaters on April 19 and debuted three weeks later on PVOD on May 10.
