Blizzard Announces Significant ‘Diablo 4’ Changes For Season 1 And Beyond

Diablo 4

Blizzard had a “Fireside Chat” about Diablo 4 on Friday, which was not an official developer stream going over every nerf and buff coming, but they did reveal a lot of additions and quality of life changes that are coming either before, during or after season 1.

Many of these are pain points in the community they are attempting to address as soon as they can, including some common questions about the upcoming season itself. Here are the highlights from the hour-ish long stream if you don’t have time to watch all that (which I did!).

  • As announced previously, season 1 is still on track to launch in mid to late July, albeit no specific date has been announced yet.
  • Nightmare Dungeons are not necessarily increasing mob density, but they will give more XP per monster, making them a better source of farming XP. Also, Nightmare Sigils will now teleport you directly into a dungeon rather than making you walk there, and once you finish one, you can pop another sigil and go directly to the next one.
  • Nercromancers’ poison corpse pools being absurdly black so it’s hard to see anything is actually a bug, and that should be fixed soon.
  • In season 2, Gems will be added to the materials tab instead of taking up space in your inventory, probably one of the most commonly requested items. Also, inventory caps are being lifted on many crafting materials.

  • Resistances will be buffed in season 2, as they are currently behind things like Armor and Damage Reduction in terms of stats that are important to prioritize for defense.
  • In the future, they are looking at things like group-finding tools for Nightmare Dungeons and other activities.
  • For the seasonal mode, you will already have the entire fog of war lifted on the map and your Lilith statues found with the bonuses. But sidequesets, dungeons, strongholds will be repopulated. You will be given enough Renown for the first two ranks, but will have to re-earn the last three including the Paragon Points at the end.

That’s not literally everything they said, but those are definitely the highlights. They promised a developer livestream in July before the season launches, which will reveal the theme of the season and more detailed information like coming nerfs and buffs. So stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, after maxing Renown with my main Barbarian for everyone else, I have a Druid to level…
