Binance Reserves Hit 693,000 BTC as Bitcoin’s Price Faces $85K Wall

Binance’s bitcoin reserves have climbed above 693,000 BTC, their highest level in two years and about 30% of reserves held across major exchanges. The buildup arrives as bitcoin struggles below heavy long-term holder supply, making the next price move unusually important.

Key Takeaways

  • Binance bitcoin reserves topped 693,000 BTC, up about 77,000 since late April.
  • The buildup raises sell-side risk as bitcoin struggles beneath the $83K-$85K supply wall.
  • BTC must hold $75K or break $85K to show demand can absorb Binance’s added liquidity.

Binance Controls 30% of Bitcoin on Exchanges

Bitcoin is facing a fresh test from the place traders watch most closely for potential selling: exchanges.

Binance now holds more than 693,000 BTC, according to onchain analyst Darkfost, after reserves increased by roughly 77,000 BTC since late April. The exchange accounts for about 30% of bitcoin reserves across major trading platforms.

That does not mean 693,000 coins are about to hit the market. But the direction matters. Rising exchange balances can signal that more bitcoin is becoming readily available for trading or sale, particularly after rallies.

With BTC already struggling beneath resistance, the timing is difficult to ignore.

Why Binance’s 77,000 BTC Increase Matters

Several forces may be contributing to the rise.

Some investors appear to have transferred bitcoin to Binance during the May rally and more recent gains, potentially to realize profits. Binance’s deep liquidity also means large market flows naturally concentrate there.

The exchange’s SAFU fund may be another factor. Binance previously outlined plans to deploy $1 billion toward roughly 15,000 BTC. In addition, security concerns following the reported Coldcard incident may also have pushed some holders toward third-party custody.

Those factors mean exchange reserves should not be treated as a pure sell signal. Still, a 77,000 BTC increase in several months creates a larger pool of immediately liquid supply.

Bitcoin’s Price Faces $83K-$85K Wall

The reserve increase comes as bitcoin confronts a difficult technical structure.

Glassnode says BTC remains trapped below a dense concentration of long-term holder supply around $83,000 to $85,000. That zone represents investors who may use further strength to distribute coins.

There is some support underneath. New accumulation is forming near current bitcoin prices, suggesting buyers have not disappeared. But Glassnode warned that if bitcoin loses that developing support cluster, $75,000 becomes the next major level to watch. A deeper breakdown could reopen the possibility of a full retracement toward $60,000.

For the short term, Binance’s swelling reserves therefore add another layer of sell-side risk to an already difficult resistance test.

Long Term, Exchange Inflows Need Confirmation

The longer-term picture is less bearish.

Exchange deposits only become damaging when holders actually sell. If bitcoin absorbs the additional supply while remaining above its accumulation zones, that would demonstrate meaningful demand and could strengthen the foundation for another breakout.

A move decisively through $85,000 despite elevated Binance reserves would be particularly constructive. It would show buyers can overcome both visible exchange liquidity and long-term holder distribution.

The opposite scenario is more dangerous. If reserves keep rising while bitcoin’s price loses $75,000, traders may conclude that deposits are translating into genuine selling pressure.

For crypto markets, the next signal is not simply how much bitcoin sits on Binance. It is whether the market can absorb it.
